Amherst puts up strong performances in relay meet against Babson

BABSON PARK, MASS – The Amherst College women's swim and dive team started the new year off strong, winning every event in the relay meet against the Babson College Beavers on Friday.

The Mammoths jump back into the pool tomorrow, Saturday, January 3rd, as they face Union College. The meet will be hosted at Amherst's own Pratt Pool and will begin at 1:00 pm.


MEET HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Mammoths dominated both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Donna Zhang finished first in the one-meter, with a score of 266.45. Zoluntu Radebe and Brooke Ronan finished second and third, respectively. In the three-meter, Ronan took first while Zhang placed second, and Radebe earned third.

  • The Mammoths earned first and second-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay. The first-place team was Paige Arnold, Joline Fong, Lucy Smith, and Sydney Thompson.

  • The Mammoths swept the 3x100 relays, earning first place in the 3x100-yard butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke relays.

  • In the 200-yard freestyle and 3x100 medley relays, Amherst earned first and second place.

  • Amherst also dominated in the 500-yard freestyle relay. On the first-place team, Ava Insteness swam the first 200 yards, Penny Lazar swam the next 150, Diane Koo swam 100 yards, and Sydney Thompson anchored the relay, swimming the final 50 yards.
