NORMAN, Okla. -- Head men's and women's golf coach Elizabeth Geene was named the Division III Golf Pride Grips Region I Coach of the Year announced today by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Leading the men's golf team to three regular season spring tournament victories, the Mammoths secured their first NESCAC Championship since 1997, their eighth in program history, clinching an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The men's team finished 18th in the nation after surviving a four-way tie for 17th place to advance to the final two rounds.
On the women's side, the Mammoths earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament after wrapping up the regular season ranked 11th in the nation in the Division III Clippd rankings and 12th in the WGCA Coaches Poll. Amherst earned their third national team qualification in the last four years and their eighth appearance in program history. The Mammoths concluded their strong season finishing 12th at the NCAA Championship.
This season marks the first time that both the Amherst men and women advanced to the NCAA Championship in program history.
