Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. -- Six Amherst College pitchers combined to hold the Brandeis University baseball team to five hits and one run Tuesday night as the Mammoths concluded its regular-season schedule with a 5-1 win over the Judges on Stein Diamond.
Amherst finished the regular season with an 18-14 record. The Mammoths will host a best-off-three NESCAC Quarterfinal series with Trinity College May 3-4. The two teams will meet Saturday at 12 p.m. in game one of a scheduled doubleheader.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* Amherst took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning Tuesday.
Aiden Dubetsky led off with a single and scored all the way from first when
Tyler McCord ripped an RBI-double down the left-field line.
* It stayed 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth when the Judges found the equalizer.
* Amherst immediately regained the lead in the top of the seventh.
Jack Sampedro and
Ryan McIntyre opened the frame with back-to-back singles, then executed a double steal. After one out,
Justin Orridge walked to load the bases.
Jack McDermott then rolled a groundball, but was able to beat the relay throw from second to get an RBI that gave Amherst a 2-1 lead.
* Amherst broke it open with three runs in the top of the ninth.
Jack Boyle led off with a single and stole second. Dubetsky grounded a single back up the middle to score Boyle and make it 3-1.
Ryan McIntyre then lined a two-run homer with two outs to make it 5-1.

* Amherst had 11 hits. Dubetsky was 3 for 5 and McIntyre it 2 for 4.
