#9 Amherst Opens Spring Season with 7-0 Sweep Over #30 Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The 9th-ranked Amherst College women's tennis team kicked off their 2025 spring season in dominant fashion, rolling past the #30 Skidmore College Thoroughbreds with a flawless 7-0 victory on the indoor courts at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center. Facing a Liberty League opponent in their season opener, the Mammoths delivered a dominant performance, sweeping all three doubles matches to take the early advantage before securing all six singles wins. 

Up Next: With the win, Amherst moves to 1-0 on the season and builds early momentum heading into their next matchup. The Mammoths will now turn their attention to their first home match of the season, as they host the 14th-ranked Williams College Ephs on Saturday at 10:30 AM ET. The highly anticipated Little 3 and NESCAC showdown will take place indoors at the Ludlow Tennis Center.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Mammoths took a 1-0 lead after doubles. Seniors Amy Cui and Katie Hart won 7-5 at the #1 spot and senior Mia Kintiroglou and sophomore Greta Stechschulte dropped just 2 games, winning 6-2 at the #3 spot.
  • Senior Amy Cui won again in her singles match. At the #1 singles spot, Cui recovered from losing the second set in a close tiebreak, 9-7, to win the match tiebreak with a score by three points.
  • Amherst won the next five singles in straight sets.
