#12 Williams defeat #16 Amherst in mid-week away match, 8-1

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — The #16 Amherst College men's squash team faced a tough challenge on Wednesday evening, falling 8-1 to the #12 Williams College Ephs at the Simon Squash Center. The Ephs, who now have an 11-3 season record, came out on top on their home courts over their NESCAC and Little Three Rivals

Up Next: This loss moves Amherst to an 8-5 overall record and 4-2 in NESCAC play. The Mammoths will look to bounce back in a few days on Saturday, when they travel to Middlebury, VT, to take on the #17 Middlebury College Panthers at the Bostwick Family Squash Courts. Middlebury's season record matches Amherst's at 8-5. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Amherst's lone win came from first-year Graeme Herbert at the #8 position, where he battled through four hard-fought sets to secure the victory over Rafay Syed.
  • Graeme's brother, Grady, came just short at the #7 spot to Causey Green. The junior battled for 49 minutes but was edged out by three points in the final set. 
  • In the other five-set match of the evening, first-year Fares Khairy fell to Asher Levy at the #5 spot in 53 minutes, with a final set score of 11-8 in favor of the Eph.
