Abbey caps rookie season with All-America triple jump at NCAA Championships

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – First-year Michael Abbey Jr. of the Amherst College men's track and field team earned All-America honors in the triple jump on the final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Shaw Memorial Stadium.

Abbey recorded a mark of 14.42m on his final attempt to finish 16th in the nation and earn All-America Second Team honors in his national championship debut. All-America honors are awarded to the top 16 finishers in each individual event with the top eight earning first-team recognition.

Abbey joins fellow first-year Parker Boyle as All-Americans in their rookie season and marks the second straight year the Mammoths have capped the outdoor season with an All-American performance at the NCAA Championships.
