WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Senior
Ian Dopp and sophomore
Henry Dennen each broke school records to highlight action for the Amherst College men's track and field team at the first day of the Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza on Friday at Williams College.
Dopp set a new Amherst record in the steeplechase while Dennen broke his own record in the 5000m.
The meet continues on Saturday (May 11) with action beginning at 10 a.m. from Williams.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Dopp made a splash in the 3000m steeplechase, running a time of 9:06.73 to set a new Amherst school record. He broke the record of Mike Page '05, whose mark of 9:09.50 had stood since 2005. Dopp finished second in the event with a time that ranks among the top 25 in Division III this season.
* Dennen broke the Amherst school record in the 5000m for the second time this season. His new mark of 14:19.49 shaved nine seconds off the time of 14:28.51 that he set on April 13 at Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic and placed seventh in the event. First-year
Stan Craig was just behind, finishing ninth with a season-best time of 14:22.13, also better than Dennen's previous record.

Cody Pierce ran the 4x400m relay in 3:16.75, the best time of the season for an Amherst quartet, and finished fourth.
* Junior
Alex Robin leads the field at the halfway point of the decathlon. Through 5 of 10 events, Robin has tallied 2950 points after posting the top score in the high jump (1.90m) and personal bests in the 100m (12.28 seconds) and long jump (6.11m).
