#19 Amherst win two matches in one day versus #31 Colby and NYU

LUDLOW, MA – On Saturday, the #19 Amherst College women's tennis team hosted two opponents in one day on the indoor courts at Ludlow Tennis Center, winning both. In the morning, the Mammoths took on the #31 nationally-ranked team and NESCAC opponents, the Colby College Mules, winning 6-3. Amherst then eased past the New York University Violets with a score of 5-0.

Today's two wins improve Amherst's record to 7-2 (2-1 in NESCAC). Up next: Amherst have a third match this weekend versus the #22 Bowdoin College Polar Bears. This match will take place tomorrow at 12pm, either on Amherst's outdoor courts or at Ludlow Tennis Center (if indoors).

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Mammoths won 2 out of 3 doubles and 4 out of 6 singles versus the Mules. 
  • Versus NYU, Amherst swept doubles before clinching the match with two comfortable singles wins. Play stopped once the overall score became 5-0 in the home side's favor, meaning that the overall match was decided.
  • Amherst are now on a four-match winning steak.
