CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior
Anaya Thomas and sophomore
Myeh Medina were the top Division III finishers in the triple jump to highlight action for the Amherst College women's track and field team at the Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The meet, which featured athletes from all three NCAA divisions, served as the final tune-up before the NESCAC Championships next Saturday (April 27), beginning at 9 a.m. at Tufts University.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Thomas was the top Division III finisher in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 11.45m to finish second overall. Medina was just behind, also setting a personal best with a mark of 11.41m to place third.
* In her first 400m hurdles start of the season, senior
Trintje Nydam circled the track in 1:08.21 to place fifth.
* First-year
Emma Ramsingh finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 41.33m.
* Senior
Mia Bawendi cleared 3.40m in the pole vault to tie for sixth place, while junior
Jordan Hecker cleared 3.25m, a season best that tied for eighth place in the event.
* Sophomore
Piper Lentz ran a personal-best time of 59.43 seconds in the 400m in her first start of the season at that distance to finish seventh.
* Junior
Olivia Steele ran a personal-best time of 15.90 seconds in the 100m hurdles to place eighth.
