Women’s Track & Field Competes at Silfen and Friar Invitationals

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Amherst College women's track & field team delivered a strong weekend of distance performances across two meets, highlighted by personal records and nationally competitive marks at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College and the Friar Invitational at Providence.

At the Silfen Invitational, sophomore Flora Biro headlined the Mammoths' efforts with a breakout performance in the 5,000 meters. Racing in the elite section, Biro clocked a 17:03.00, securing a personal best and placing herself among the top times in Division III this season. Competing in her first collegiate 5K, Biro's performance also positioned her inside the NCAA top-10 (#9).

Senior Allison Lounsbury added another standout performance in the 10,000 meters, finishing in 36:58.53 to earn a personal record. Lounsbury's result marked a significant improvement and established her among the top distance runners in the NESCAC this spring.

At the Friar Invitational, Amherst saw additional middle-distance action, highlighted by Piper Lentz, who competed in the 800-meter invitational and recorded a 2:12.59 finish against a competitive Division I field  .

Collectively, the Mammoths showcased depth and momentum in the distance events, with multiple athletes achieving personal bests and positioning themselves for championship season.
 
 Women's Track & Field Multis Highlight Weekend at Tufts Stampede

The Amherst College women's track & field team competed in the heptathlon at the Tufts Stampede this weekend, turning in a series of personal and season-best
Madison Vant led the Mammoths with a 3679-point performance, showcasing strength across multiple events. She recorded new personal bests starting off with a strong 100m hurdles performance (16.92), along with improvements in the 200m  (28.21) Maddie also demonstrated endurance in the 800 meters, contributing to her overall scoring effort and a top regional performance.

Zoe Mulvihill delivered a breakout performance of her own, finishing with a personal-best 3480 points in the heptathlon. Her weekend was highlighted by a PR in the javelin (26.92m) and a strong throw in shot put (9.61). Zoe also contributed solid marks across the board, including the long jump (4.66m) and 100-meter hurdles (17.18), underscoring her growth in the multis.

Together, the Mammoths showed continued progress in the combined events, with both athletes achieving personal milestones and building a strong foundation for the remainder of the outdoor season.
 
Women's Track & Field Posts Strong All-Around Showing at UMass Commonwealth Invite

The Amherst College women's track & field team delivered a well-rounded performance at the UMass Commonwealth Invite on Saturday, highlighted by personal bests, season bests, and multiple NESCAC-qualifying marks across sprint, distance, and field events.

On the track, Amherst saw significant progress in the sprints. Heloise Hughes led the way in the 200 meters with a win and a season-best performance that currently sits among the top marks in Division III of 24.83. Rachel Hubley added onto a strong day, recording a season best in the 200 meters of 25.82 after notching a wind-aided collegiate best in the 100 meters of 12.46, while Halle Hanna ran a 1:01.65  and Caroline Wu a 1:02.08 posting personal bests in the 400 and season bests in the 200 meters. Camilla Lash also impressed in the 100 meters with a wind-aided personal record of 12.43.

In the 100h hurdles, Myeh Medina delivered one of the top performances of the meet, clocking a personal-best time that ranks among the top marks nationally this season of 14.53. Arissa Grace McGowan added a season-best effort in the event of 15.14, contributing to Amherst's strength in the hurdles group.

The Mammoths continued their success in the middle-distance and distance events. In the 1500 meters, Zoe Marcus finished as runner-up, narrowly missing her personal best by just a tenth of a second running 4:36.47, while Ani Bailin (11-second PR of 4:48.04) and Rowan Bixler (14-second PR of 5:05.29) turned in major improvements. Nora Hart also ran a strong race of 4:53.32, finishing just one second off her best. In the 800 meters, Taylor Gudebski led the group with a personal best of 2:25.27, while Leila Davani, Audrey Seeger, and Hannah Adhikari each recorded season-best performances. In the steeplechase, Emma Vatnsdal posted a significant 30-second season-best improvement of 12:30.64.

Amherst's Jumps event group delivered a standout performance, highlighted by multiple NESCAC qualifiers.  Alayah Campbell had multiple NESCAC qualifiers jumping (high jump, 1.51m; long jump, 5.17m) and Leah Smith (high jump, 1.51m; long jump, 5.09m) each secured qualifying marks in multiple events. Katie Oliver added qualifiers in both horizontal jumps, posting a 4.76m long jump and 10.04m triple jump, and Sophia Ford (10.65m) also qualified in the triple jump.
