LA CROSSE, WI. -- The 2026 NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet opened Thursday at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin -- La Crosse, and junior Heloise Hughes and senior Myeh Medina made sure it was a good start for the 7-person crew from Amherst College. 

Hughes finished 14th in the long jump competition, leaping 5.61 meters on her second of three jumps on the day. er 14th-place finish earned her 2nd Team All-American honors.

On the track, Amherst senior Myeh Medina qualified for finals in the 400mH with a time of 1:01.56 to place 9th on a tie-breaker. 

The championship meet continues Friday.
