AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College women's track and field team kicked off their outdoor campaign with a statement performance at the UMass Flagship Opener. Competing against a mix of Division I and III talent, the Mammoths were led by a historic performance in the throws and gritty personal bests on the track.
Meadows Sets the Standard
The highlight of the day came from the throwing circle, where Lilly Meadows etched her name into the Amherst history books. Meadows delivered a massive performance in the hammer throw, launching a toss of 43.69m (143' 4") to claim 5th place overall and officially shatter the Amherst school record. Her record-breaking day didn't stop there, as she also added strong finishes in the shot put (10.92m) and discus (31.98m), proving to be a dominant force across the board.
Hurdles and Distance
On the track, the Mammoths continued to find their rhythm in the spring air. Mads Rabb put together a clinical race in the 400m hurdles. Fighting through the technical demands of the backstretch, Rabb crossed the line in 1:07.64, securing a 3rd-place finish and a brand new personal record (PR).
In the middle-distance events,
Audrey Seeger led the charge in a competitive 1500m field. Seeger clocked a time of 4:48.47, marking her fastest outdoor 1500m ever. Her performance placed her 6th in a heat dominated by Division I runners, signaling a bright outlook for the rest of the season.
