ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – In a tournament stacked with the best teams in the country, the Amherst College men's golf team played its way to a 20th-place finish in the Jekyll Collegiate after Sunday's final round on the par-71 King and Prince Golf Course.
The Mammoths shot a team score of 314 (+30) in Sunday's final round for a three-round score of 911 (+59), placing Amherst 20th in a field of 30 teams that includes each of the top seven teams in the Division III coaches poll and NCAA Clippd rankings. Host Oglethorpe won the tournament with a total score of 870 (+18), five strokes ahead of defending national champion Carnegie Mellon. Rhodes senior Avery Stansell shot a 209 (-4) to win individual medalist honors.

Leland Tsai was Amherst's low scorer on Sunday, shooting a 5-over 76. Sophomore

Rhys Burgess each carded an 8-over 79 and junior
Anthony Zhang was one stroke back with an 80.
Kaviyarasu was the top Mammoth on the tournament leaderboard with a three-round score of 227 (+14) to tie for 68th place.
The Mammoths return to action on Saturday, April 13, teeing off in the two-day Tim Brown Invitational in Ballston Spa, New York.
