Carolina Andrade won the javelin as the throwers from the Amherst College women's track and field team opened the outdoor season at the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic on Saturday at Wesleyan University's Andersen Track.
The Mammoths return to action next weekend with a trip to Bryant University for the Black and Gold Invitational. The meet kicks off with the 10k races on Friday (March 29) with the rest of the meet taking place on Saturday (March 30).
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Andrade, the reigning NESCAC champion in the event, won the javelin with a throw of 32.12m. Sophomore
Morgan Rome was second with a mark of 32.05m.
* Senior
Bethany Martin was the runner-up in the hammer with a throw of 38.06m.
* First-year
Emma Ramsingh was Amherst's top finisher in the shot put with a mark of 10.55m to place sixth.
