Amherst vs. Elmhurst
* Amherst took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
Heidi Li reached on an error leading off the inning and
America Rangel drew a walk.
Sadie Pool advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt. Li scored on a wild pitch to give the Mammoths a 1-0 lead.
Emma Nordstrom then hit a sacrifice fly to left that scored Rangel for the two-run advantage.
* Elmhurst responded with five runs in its half of the first and did not look back.
* The Mammoths had three hits in the loss.
Abby Moravek,
Dani Torres Werra and Nordstrom had those hits.
Amherst vs. Wisconsin-Oshkosh
* The Mammoths faced another powerful -- and unbeaten -- team from the WIAC to begin the day. It was a superb pitcher's duel between Amherst's
Abby Moravek and the Titans' Sydney Nemetz, with only a solo homer run in the top of the second by UW-Oshkosh's Haylie Whittman putting either team on the scoreboard.
* The Mammoths threatened in their half of the second as Emily Nordstrom led off with a single to center and
Randi Finkelstein was hit by a pitch. But a double play and strike out ended the threat.
* Nordstrom had the next Amherst hit as well, singling through the left side with two outs in the fourth, but first is where she stayed as Nemetz retired the next batter.
* Oshkosh broke open the game with a six-run top of the fifth inning.
* Nordstrom had both Amherst hits, finishing 2 for 2.
