AMHERST, MA – Three members of the Amherst softball team were named to National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NCFA) All-Region teams when they were announced by the organization this week. Sophomore outfielder Lauren Ro (Simi Valley, Calif.) and first year third base Brooke Wild (Tucson, AZ) were named to the second team, and sophomore utility player Lulu Leppard (Nashua, N.H.) earned third team honors as a shortstop.

Ro took a big step up in her sophomore season, playing in more than double the amount of games she did her first year and finishing the campaign second on the team in batting average at .440. As the Mammoths' leadoff, Ro recorded 44 hits and 10 RBIs in 100 at bats and put up a .467 on base percentage. She also stole five bases on the year. Defensively, she tallied 31 putouts and 3 assists with only 1 error this season, good for a .971 fielding percentage.

Wild stepped into the Amherst lineup as a first year and made an immediate impact, batting .300 in 100 at bats, putting up 30 hits, including five doubles, for 11 RBIs. She also registered a .340 on-base percentage. Defensively, she contributed to 67 total plays, with 30 putouts and 37 assists at the hot corner.

Leppard followed up a breakout first season with an even better sophomore campaign. She made her biggest impact at the plate, leading the team in four hitting stats: batting average at .446, slugging percentage with a .713, and on-base percentage at .504 (all fifth in the NESCAC), as well as OPS with a 1.217 (sixth in the NESCAC). In 101 at-bats primarily at the cleanup spot, she recorded 27 RBIs, which lead the team, six triples (third in the NESCAC), and four home runs. In 31 games playing mostly at shortstop, a position she came into the season unfamiliar with, she also recorded 46 putouts and 43 assists.

Amherst finished their season with a 11-25 record, including a 5-13 record in NESCAC play.
