ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Amherst College men's golf team improved their first-round score by 13 strokes on Saturday in the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate at the par-71 King and Prince Golf Course.
The Mammoths completed the second round with a team score of 292 (+8) for the day before inclement weather suspended play. The second round will be completed on Sunday morning beginning at 7:45 a.m. with the third and final round to begin immediately after. Amherst is scheduled to tee off beginning at 8:50 a.m. from the 10th hole.
The Mammoths will spend the night in 18th place in the 30-team field with a 36-hole team score of 597 (+29). Rhodes completed its round as the leader in the clubhouse at 575 (+7).

Paari Kaviyarasu and junior
Teddy Freking each shot a 1-over 72 to lead the Mammoths on the day, both improving their scores from the first round. First-year
Rhys Burgess carded a 2-over 73 and classmate
Leland Tsai scored a 4-over 75.
Kaviyarasu moved up to a tie for 50th on the leaderboard with a two-round score of 148 (+6). Junior
Anthony Zhang sits a stroke behind, tied for 58th in the field of 150 golfers at 149 (+7). Burgess is just behind at 150 (+8) to tie for 69th place.
