GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior
Sydney Bluestein and first-year
Paige Arnold of the Amherst College women's swimming and diving team each earned All-America honors on the second day of the NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Bluestein placed eighth in one-meter diving, posting an 11-dive score of 433.60 to earn First Team All-America honors, awarded to the top eight finishers in each event. Her performance was highlighted by a score of 55.20 on her final dive, earning scores from the judges of 7.5 and 8.0.
Arnold finished 14th in the 100-yard butterfly to earn Second Team All-America honors, awarded to the 9th through 16th place finishers, with a time of 55.58 seconds in the final after swimming a personal-best 55.35 in the morning prelims.
The Mammoths also competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Arnold teamed with first-year
Lucy Smith and seniors
Lauren Eng and
Grace Walker to finish 19th in the nation with a time of 1:35.38.
First-years
Maeve Kelley and Smith, who each earned All-America honors in different events on Wednesday, competed in the 200-yard freestyle. Kelley finished 20th in a personal-best 1:51.98 and Smith placed 27th in 1:52.56.
At the midway point of the competition, the Mammoths sit in 16th place in the team standings with 30 points. Defending champion Denison leads the meet with 244 points.
The NCAA Championships continue on Friday (March 22) with preliminary heats beginning at 10 a.m. The Mammoths are scheduled to compete in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
