#16 Amherst claims victory in three events at Tufts Cupid Challenge

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Amherst College women's track and field team won three events at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday. 

Julia Schor claimed the victory in the 3000m in a field of 34 competitors while the Mammoths 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams recorded first-place finishes. 

The Mammoths, ranked 16th in the nation according to the latest USTFCCCA Division III rating index, will resume competition next weekend (Feb. 9-10) at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational and at the Middlebury Field & Track Meet (Feb. 10). 

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

* Schor's first-place finish in the 3000m of 9:59.07 was a personal record by over 39 seconds, ranking 19th in Division III and first in the Mideast Region. Schor's performance secures the junior a spot at the New England Division III Championships.

* The 4 x 200m relay team of Rachel Hubley, Madison Rabb, Paige Clark, and Halle Hanna claimed the overall victory, posting a time of 1:48.60. 

* The team of Christa Prasertsintanah, Eliza Cardwell, Myeh Medina, and Trintje Nydam set the pace in the 4 x 400m, clocking in a lead time of 4:00.04 which ranks 16th in Division III and second in the region. 

* Zoë Marcus finished second overall in the 1000m with a personal best of 2:57.48, ranking fourth all time in Amherst women's indoor track and field program history. The performance marks New England Championship qualifying time. 

* Arissa Grace McGowan improves with a personal record in the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles of 9.15 seconds before finishing fourth with a New England qualifying performance of 9.26 seconds. 

* Anaya Thomas placed second in the triple jump with a season best and Division III New England Championship qualifying standard of 11.15m. In the long jump, Thomas registered a personal record of 4.90m.

* In the shot put, Emma Ramsingh delivered a personal best of 11.23m which was good for third overall in a field of 47. Ramsingh's performance also qualifies the freshman for the Division III New England Championship.
