BOSTON – The Mammoths won New England titles in three events as the Amherst College women's track and field team finished third at the New England Division III Indoor Championships on Sunday at the Track at New Balance.
Junior
Eliza Cardwell won New England titles in the long jump and the 60m hurdles, setting a school record in the latter, and Amherst's 4x800m relay team also set a school record in its first-place finish. The Mammoths tallied a total of 18 All-New England performances, awarded to the top eight finishers in each event.
The Mammoths tallied a total of 95 points to place third in the field of 42 teams, the team's second top-three finish in the last three seasons. MIT scored 130.33 points to win its first team championship since 2017.
The Mammoths will be back in action next weekend with one last chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships, competing in the NEICAAA Championships in Boston and at the Tufts Qualifying Meet in Medford.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Cardwell broke her own Amherst school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.64 seconds in the preliminaries. In the finals, Cardwell reclaimed the New England title that she won as a first-year in 2022 before finishing second last year, running a time of 8.67 in the final.
* Cardwell also won her first New England title in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 5.68m on her second attempt. Her marks in both events are among the top 10 nationally in Division III this season.

Zoë Marcus posted a time of 9:14.83, breaking the previous meet record of 9:15.59 that was set by MIT in 2019 and the previous Amherst school record of 9:15.71 that had stood since 2006.

Halle Hanna all earned their first career All-New England honor with a seventh-place finish in the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:46.77.
* Marcus also earned All-New England honors in the 1000m in her rookie season, finishing second in 2:57.81.
* Lentz also earned All-New England honors in the 800m, finishing fourth with a personal-best time of 2:17.51.

Muffie Mazambani earned All-New England honors both the long jump and the triple jump for the second time in each event, placing third in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 11.47m and with in the long jump with a mark of 5.42m.
* Mazambani led a trio of All-New England Mammoths in the triple jump as Medina was fifth with a mark of 11.17m and sophomore
Anastasia Ioppolo placed seventh with a mark of 11.10m.

Julia Schor earned her sixth career All-New England honor with a fourth-place finish in the 3000m with a time of 10:02.41.

Arissa Grace McGowan earned All-New England honors in the 60m hurdles, running a personal best of 9.13 seconds in the preliminaries before placing eighth in the final for her second career All-New England finish.

Mia Bawendi posted her first career All-New England finish, clearing 3.53m in the pole vault to place eighth.
