Nikki Chopra won the 3000m as the Amherst College women's track and field team competed at the Triangle Classic on Saturday at Springfield College.
The Mammoths are back in action next weekend as championship season begins with the New England Division III Indoor Championships. The pentathlon will take place on Friday (Feb. 23) at Tufts University with the rest of the program on Sunday (Feb. 25) at the Track at New Balance in Boston.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Lozier won the mile in her first collegiate start at that distance, clocking a time of 5:14.08 to qualify for the New England Division III Championships.
* Chopra finished first in the 3000m, picking up her first collegiate win in her first start at that distance with a time of 10:45.12.
* Junior
Olivia Steele qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the 60m hurdles, becoming Amherst's seventh qualifier in that event by finishing fourth with a personal-best 9.61 seconds.
