MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Amherst College women's swimming and diving team opened competition at the NESCAC Championships on Thursday night with the 800-yard freestyle relay at Middlebury College.

Sophomore Alex Zorn, senior Emma Lee, senior Sabrina Comess and sophomore Diane Koo finished eighth in the B heats in the only event of the evening, earning the Mammoths 10 points in the team standings with a time of 7:53.56. Amherst's entry in the A heats was disqualified due to an early take-off.

Williams won the 800 free relay to take the early lead in the team standings.

The championships continue from Middlebury on Friday (Feb. 16) with morning preliminary heats beginning at 10 a.m. and finals getting underway at 6 p.m.
