BOSTON – The Amherst College women's track and field team won three events and three school records fell at Middlebury's New England Small College Invitational, a meet that brought all 11 NESCAC teams together at the Track at New Balance on Sunday.

Junior Eliza Cardwell won both the 60m hurdles and the long jump while classmate Julia Schor won the mile.

Cardwell broke her own school record in the 60m hurdles, while junior Casie Eifrig set a new school record in the 400m and senior Mia Bawendi set a new school record in the pole vault.

The Mammoths, ranked 13th in the nation in the latest USTFCCCA Division III rating index, return to action next weekend (Feb. 2-3), competing at the Tufts Cupid Challenge.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

* Cardwell won the 60m hurdles in record-setting fashion. After qualifying first with a time of 8.79 seconds in the preliminaries, Cardwell ran the final in 8.71 seconds, breaking her own school record of 8.73 seconds set in February 2022. Her time is the best in New England and second-best in all of Division III so far this season.

* Cardwell was also a winner in the long jump with a leap of 5.54m to remain unbeaten in individual events so far this indoor season.

* Schor ran her first career sub-five minute mile, winning the event in a personal-best 4:58.37, a time that ranks in the top 20 nationally in Division III this season.

* Bawendi became the first Mammoth to clear 3.60m in the pole vault, breaking the school record of 3.40m shared by Eve Giancarlo and Jordan Hecker that was set in 2022. Finishing second in the event, Bawendi qualified for a return appearance at the New England Division III Championships with a mark among the top-20 nationally in Division III.

* Eifrig set a new school record in the 400m with her time of 58.04 seconds, which was good for second place, breaking the mark of 58.21 set in 2016 by Victoria Hensley '16.

* First-year Héloïse Hughes qualified for the New England Division III Championships with a time of 25.50 seconds to finish second in the 200m and set a new season best in the 60m with a time of 7.94 seconds to finish third.

* Sophomore Myeh Medina qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 11.22m to finish second and also set a personal best in the 60m hurdles, running a time of 9.31 seconds in the preliminary heats.
