#18 Amherst three-game winning streak comes to an end with narrow 5-4 loss to #29 Chatham

CANTON, NY — On Friday evening, the #18 Amherst College men's squash team lost 5-4 in a nailbiting game versus the #29 Chatham University Cougars (who now hold a record of 2-5) at the Robbie Squash Center. 

This result was the Mammoths' sixth win of the season and rounds off a busy week of games. The Mammoths' record now stands at 10-6. 

Up next: Amherst will return from a string of away games for their final two games of the season. They will face two NESCAC foes before hosting the NESCAC tournament that starts on Saturday, February 10th. First off, they will play their rivals, the #9 Williams College Ephs at 5pm on Friday, February 2nd on the Davenport Squash Courts on Amherst's campus.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
 
  • The Cougars came out on top versus the Mammoths at the top four spots, as well as at the #8 spot
  • Amherst's Neal Malani fought back after losing the first two sets to win at the #5 spot versus Lucas Oliveiro in 47 minutes
  • Three of the nine matches went to five sets, with Amherst prevailing in two of them
