#18 Mammoths topple #29 Wesleyan, 8-1

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — On Tuesday evening, the #18 Amherst College men's squash team won their ninth game of the season versus the #29 Wesleyan University Cardinals (who now hold a 5-9 record for the season) at the Rosenbaum Squash Center. 

Following their narrow 5-4 loss to the #13 Colby College Mules last Friday, Amherst have bounced back with two convincing wins versus NESCAC teams. The Mammoths' record now stands at 9-5. 

Up next: Amherst now have four regular season games remaining. The Mammoths will next take on the #23 St. Lawrence University Saints on Thursday January 25 at 6pm at the Robbie Squash Center in Canton, NY. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
 
  • The Cardinals entered the contest versus Amherst high on confidence following their 9-0 sweep versus the #31 Haverford College Fords on Sunday
  • Amherst won in straight sets in three of the nine matches
  • Zachary Idinopulos' five-set win for the Cardinals against Robert Avram at the #8 position was the longest match of the evening, lasting 50 minutes
