#7 Amherst remains unbeaten with 7-2 win over #10 Sewanee

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The 7th-ranked Amherst College women's tennis team convincingly defeated the 10th-ranked University of the South Tigers with a score of 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.

Amherst's record is now 3-0 for the season. Amherst's match against Sewanee comprises its first of four during their week-long trip to southern California. The Mammoths will next play versus the 5th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens. This will take place on Monday (March 13) at 2 p.m. ET at the Pauley Tennis Complex.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

* Sewanee prevailing through a deciding tiebreak at the #1 doubles spot, but Amherst earned a 2-1 lead after the round of three doubles matches.

* The match at the #1 spot was the first singles match to finish, with sophomore Amy Cui winning in straight sets.

* Senior Calista Sha clinched the match at the #4 spot with a three-set victory.
