#19 Mammoths eke out 5-4 win over #17 M.I.T.

AMHERST, Mass. — On Friday evening, the #19 Amherst College men's squash team overcame the #17 MIT Engineers (who are now 5-5 for the season) with a score of 5-4 at the Davenport Squash Courts. 

Amherst's second successive win improves its overall season record to 5-2. Next up: Amherst's Friday night win begins a string of home games for the Mammoths. They will host again on the Davenport Squash Courts tomorrow versus the #16 Tufts University Jumbos (whose season record stands at 3-4) at 1 p.m. EST.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Three matches were stretched to five sets, with Amherst triumphing in one of them with senior Nathaniel Mosse's win at the #9 spot
  • Junior Kedar Nagaraj and first-year William Okurowski's matches at the #1 and #8 spots, respectively, were the last to finish 
  • Overall, the game was a close contest between the two teams, and every match lasted over 25 minutes
