LEWISTON, Me. – The Amherst College women's tennis team were hosted by the Bates College Bobcats at the Wallach Tennis Center, on Saturday. The match commenced at 2 pm. In cool, slightly windy conditions, the Mammoths bounced back from defeat against the #6 MIT Engineers on Friday, to sweep Bates 9-0.
The Mammoths led 3-0 after the doubles matches, with 8-5, 8-3, 8-1 wins respectively #1, #2 and #3 spots respectively. Next, in the singles matches which followed, the Mammoths remained dominant, taking all 6 singles matches without dropping a set.

Amherst's win-loss record is now 10-6 (7-2 in NESCAC). Amherst return to the Boston area for their 3
rd and final match of the weekend and of their regular season. The #10 Tufts University Jumbos will host the Mammoths, at the Lower Campus Tennis Courts, with the match planned to start at 2 pm. The weekend after, on Friday May 6
th, Amherst will begin competing in the NESCAC Championships.
