BERNARDSTON, Mass. – The Amherst College women's golf team sits in second place, just one stroke off the lead after Saturday's first round of the Jack Leaman Invitational, hosted by Amherst at the par-72 Crumpin-Fox Club.
Halfway through the 36-hole stroke play event, the Mammoths – ranked ninth in the nation in the latest WGCA Division III Poll – are at a 16-over 304, one stroke behind Williams with third-place NYU three strokes back in the 10-team field.
First-year
Jessica Huang led the Mammoths with a 3-over 75 to tie for fourth place in the field of 59 golfers. Classmate
Gihoe Seo and sophomore
Jenny Hua are each one stroke behind at 4-over, while junior
Janelle Jin and sophomore
Priya Bakshi are tied for ninth at 5-over.
NYU's Nalinda Wanikpun posted the best score in the first round with a 1-over 73.
The second and final round tees off on Sunday (April 24) at 10 a.m.
