First-year
Eliza Cardwell won the 400m hurdles and notched three top-three finishes to lead the Amherst College women's track and field team on a busy Saturday of competition. Most of the Mammoths competed at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College while two heptathletes were in action at the Williams Invitational.
The Mammoths will be back in action on Saturday, April 23, competing in the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Cardwell won the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:04.62, which ranks in the top 20 nationally in Division III so far this season. Junior
Ava Tillman was fifth in 1:07.82 and first-year
Artis Phillips was seventh in 1:08.69.
* Cardwell finished second in the long jump with a mark of 5.44m to qualify for the New England Division III Championship in her first long jump entry of the outdoor season. Sophomore
Muffie Mazambani took sixth in both the long jump and the triple jump with a long jump of 5.17m and a triple jump of 11.11m.
* Cardwell was third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.02. First-year
Anaya Thomas was 10th in 16.33 and sophomore
Bridget Cassata qualified for the New England Division III Championship with a 16.59.

Sam Tichelaar qualified for the New England Division III Championship in the 200m, clocking a 26.13 to finish seventh.

Anna Madden finished second in the 400m with a time of 58.74 and classmate
Juanita Jaramillo was fourth in 59.28.

Julia Zacher claimed second place in the high jump, clearing 1.62m.

Carolina Andrade ranked seventh in the javelin with a toss of 31.86m.
* In the heptathlon at Williams, sophomore
Trintje Nydam finished second with a personal-best 3648 points and junior
Annelise Romero was third with 3551 points, qualifying both for the New England Division III Championships in their first heptathlon of the spring.
* The Mammoths earned 95 points at the Silfen Invitational to finish third in a field of 21 teams. Middlebury won the meet with 118.5 points.
