AMHERST, MASS – The Amherst College Women's Tennis team achieved out fought the #4 Emory University Eagles in a marathon dual match Friday. This is Amherst's highest-ranked win of the season, and their against opponents ranked in the top 15 in the country. Emory is also the reigning NCAA National Champions.
The match began with Amherst taking a 2-1 doubles lead, with first-years
Deliala Friedman and
Mia Kintiroglou progressing in a close tiebreak. However, the Eagles fought back in the singles matches, and were off to a positive start, winning the first sets in 4 of the 6 singles matches. Although seniors
Jackie Bukzin and
Anya Ramras sailed through to victory in straight sets, first-years
Deliala Friedman and
Amy Cui were forced to decisively turn their matches around to win in 3 sets. These proved to be the last two singles matches to finish, with
Amy Cui '25 getting the critical 5
th win for the Mammoths to clinch the match

The Mammoths improve their record to 7-5. They will return to NESCAC play on Wednesday, where they will take on the Trinity College Bantams at 4pm. This will be a home contest, and will take place outside on the Amherst Tennis Courts, unless poor weather conditions force the match to be re-located indoors.
