POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Amherst College first-year Gihoe Seo fired a 2-over 74 at the Casperkill Golf Club Saturday, helping the Mammoths to a first-place standing after Day One of the Vassar College Invitational.

Collectively the Mammoths shot a 15-over 303 team score and lead second-pace NYU by four strokes heading into the second and final day of the invite Sunday. 

Sophomore Jenny Hua and first-year Jessica Huang tied each other for 4th place in the individual standings, both shooting a 3-over 75 and giving the Mammoths three of the top five scores on the day. 

Junior Janelle Jin and senior captain India Gaume got into the clubhouse with matching 79s on the day, tying Jo Kim of Williams College for 12th place in the individual standings. Gaume is participating as an individual this weekend.

Sophomore Priya Bakshi had a round of 10-over par 82 for the first day. 

There were 12 teams competing with 60 golfers in attendance. Round two will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday.
