Lichtmacher advances at CSA Individual Nationals

PHILADELPHIA – Junior Adam Lichtmacher of the Amherst College men's squash team won his consolation match to advance in the College Squash Association (CSA) National Collegiate Individual Championships on Friday at the Specter US Squash Center. Sophomore Callie DeLalio also competed from the Amherst women's team, dropping two matches to wrap up the season.

Competing as the 14th seed in the Molloy East bracket, Lichtmacher fell in three games in his opening match against third-seeded Karim Elbarbary of Princeton. Moving on to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket, Lichtmacher rebounded with an 11-7, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6 win over 11th-seeded Jesper Phillips of Bates.

Lichtmacher will face 10th-seeded Grant Sterman of Brown in the semifinals of the consolation bracket on Saturday (March 5) at 12:10 p.m. on Court 18.

DeLalio entered the tournament as the 15th seed in the Holleran South bracket and lost in three games to the second seed, Maria Paula Moya of Virginia. Her season ended in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket with a three-game loss to Columbia's Sarah Cao, the seventh seed in the draw.
