LUDLOW, Mass. – The Amherst College women's tennis team opened their NESCAC campaign on Saturday with a 9-0 sweep of the Connecticut College Camels. The match took place on indoor tennis courts at the Ludlow Tennis Club, rather than Amherst's outdoor tennis courts, due to rainy weather conditions.
The Mammoths breezed past the away team in the doubles, dropping just four games in three doubles match wins, including a whitewash 8-0 win for #1 pair
Jackie Bukzin '22 and
Mia Kintiroglou '25. The singles matches continued in a similar fashion, with wins across the board. At the #1 spot, Bukzin – the #1 ranked singles player in the Northeast region – continued her fine form by winning without dropping a game.
Calista Sha '23 and
Anya Ramras '22 replicated Bukzin with 6-0, 6-0 wins at the #5 and #6 spots respectively.
Amherst, ranked ninth in the nation in the latest ITA Division III Rankings, returns to the Ludlow Tennis Club to face Little Three rivals, the fifth-ranked Wesleyan Cardinals, at 10 a.m. on Sunday (March 27
