Anya Ramras '22 Returns a volley at the net

#9 Mammoths edged by #5 Wesleyan, 5-4

LUDLOW, Mass. – The Amherst College women's tennis team suffered their first loss of their NESCAC season on Sunday against the #5 Wesleyan University Cardinals at the Ludlow Tennis Club.
 
Amherst began the singles matches down 2-1 after the doubles matches, despite a convincing victory from Anya Ranmras '22 and Amy Cui '25 at the #3 doubles spot. Amherst and Wesleyan then won 3 singles each, with Amherst winning at the #1, #2 and #5 spots, thanks to Jackie Bkzuin '22, Amy Cui '25, and Calista Sha '23. In a contest which went right to the wire, the #5 Cardinals came out on top, securing a 5-4 win. The Wesleyan Cardinals now carry an undefeated 8-0 record for their 2021-22 season.
 
Up Next:
The Mammoths are eager to get a productive week of practice in to prepare for their upcoming away trip. The team next travels to Maine for another weekend doubleheader. Amherst will face the Bowdoin College Polar Bears on Saturday, April 2nd, and then the Colby College Mules on Sunday.
