MALIBU, CA -- After nearly five months of break, the Amherst College women's tennis team made its return to the courts Sunday as they battled Sewanee: The University of the South in their Spring season opener. The Mammoths lost to the Tigers, 5-4, at a neutral venue at Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA..
Despite losing 2 out of the 3 doubles matches, Amherst won 3 out of the 6 singles to pull the score back to 4 matches all between the two top-10 nationally-ranked teams. However, in a match lasting over 5 hours, the Mammoths fell just short.

After beating Williams in their only dual match during the Fall season, the Amherst women's tennis team now carry a record of 1-1. The Mammoths are looking forward to a busy Spring break schedule with 3 more upcoming dual matches in California before returning to Western Massachusetts.
