AMHERST, Mass. – Four Mammoths swept their matches as the Amherst College men's squash team earned a 7-2 win over NESCAC foe Middlebury College on Wednesday at the Davenport Squash Courts.
It was the fifth straight win for the Mammoths (7-3), who are ranked 21st in the nation in the CSA rankings released today, and snapped a 20-game losing streak against the 25th-ranked Panthers (2-6) for Amherst's first win over Middlebury since February 2008.
Junior Adam Lichtmacher improved to 6-0 this season with his 3-0 sweep at No. 3 singles. Senior captains Charles Sutherby and Andrew Leung and junior Nate Mossé also won their matches with 3-0 scores.
The Mammoths are back in action on Saturday (Jan. 22) at noon, visiting 15th-ranked MIT.
