Sweep of Hamilton gives #17 Amherst third straight win to open Pioneer Valley Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College men's squash team dropped only three sets in a 9-0 sweep of NESCAC foe Hamilton College in the Pioneer Valley Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Davenport Squash Courts.

Seven Mammoths won their matches in straight sets. Junior Adam Lichtmacher improved to 4-0 on the season with a straight-set win. Sophomore Yeshwin Sankuratri and first-year Matthew Granovsky each won their fourth straight match as well and first-year Walter Huffman earned his first collegiate win in his second match.

It was the third straight win and first sweep of the season for the Mammoths (5-3), ranked 17th in the nation in the latest CSA rankings, while the 28th-ranked Continentals (2-6) suffered their third straight loss. Amherst is back in action on Sunday (Jan. 16), hosting Haverford at 11 a.m. to wrap up the Pioneer Valley Invitational.
