CLINTON, N.Y. – Shooting just one-over-par on the weekend, first-year
Gihoe Seo placed first overall in her first collegiate competition to help lead the Amherst College women's golf team to a second place finish at the 15-squad Hamilton Fall Invitational at the Skenandoa Golf Club.

As a team, the Mammoths finished +39 overall in their season opening meet, with Amherst shaving nine strokes off their day one score to card a 316-307-623 and place second. Williams took the team title with a 613 (+29), while New York University rounded out the top-three (628, +44).

Scoring par in her first collegiate round, Seo logged a 73 to hold a five-stroke lead after day one before continuing to impress and carding a 74 on day two action to close out the weekend with a 147 and earn individual medalist honors as the meet's top finisher. Katie Murphy of Middlebury (78-74-52) was next best on the weekend followed by Charlotte Kwong of NYU (77-76-153), who finished third overall.

Tying for fifth place,
Jessica Huang '25 was the next Mammoth on the scoresheet, with the first-year carding a 79-75-54 to finish eight-over-par in the two-day span.

Jenny Hua's '24 back-to-back 79's (158, +17) was good for 17th place at the 90-golfer event, while
Priya Bakshi '24 shot an 86 and a 79 to place tied for 25th.

Sophomore
Ivy Haight rounded out the Mammoths, following her day one score of 85 with an 86 on day two to card a 171 and tie for 36th overall.

Amherst returns to the course next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18-19 when they compete at the George Phinney Classic hosted by Middlebury.
