PHILADELPHIA -- The 17th-ranked Amherst College men's squash team opened the season with a pair of dual meet wins over 26th-ranked Dickinson College and 22nd-ranked U.S. Naval Academy on Saturday at the Penn Squash Center.
The Mammoths opened the day with a 5-4 win over the Red Devils (1-5) with the match coming down to the #6 matchup where senior Charles Sutherby came back after dropping the first set to clinch the match with a four-set win. Sophomore Neal Malani picked up his first collegiate win at the top of the ladder to lead the Mammoths to a 6-3 win over the Midshipmen (9-3) in the afternoon match.
Sophomore Kedar Naharaj, Sutherby, senior Andrew Leung and junior Nate Mossé all won both of their matches on the day while Malani, Nagaraj, sophomore Yeshwin Sankuratri and freshman Matthew Granovsky each picked up wins on their first day of collegiate competition.
The Mammoths move down the street from Penn to Drexel to face the 5th-ranked Dragons on Sunday (Nov. 21) at 10 a.m.
