WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Amherst College men's swimming and diving placed third in the 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, and 100 breaststroke on day three of the 2020 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship to sit third heading into the final day of competition at Samuelson-Muir Pool.
In the opening event, Kou Li '21, Sean Mebust '20, Jack Koravos '20, and Scott Romeyn '22 touched the wall with a time of 1:29.58 to land third overall in the 200 medley relay.
In the Mammoths second finish at third place on the day, Koravos came 0.02 away from a silver medal finish in the 100 butterfly, swimming for a time of 49.25 seconds. Christian Moy '23 finished second in the consolation final (50.43).
In the 100 breaststroke, Mebust swam for an NCAA B-cut time of 55.52 to take third, while Malcolm Scannell '22 finished sixth in the consolation final (57.45) and 14th overall.
Peter Baird '22 recorded a sixth-place time of 4:04.06 in the 400 IM, while Romeyn finished two spots back from a top-three finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:41.16. In the final event on the day, Craig Smith '20 swam for a time of 50.29, placing sixth in the 100 backstroke.
The Mammoths sit in third with a score of 963.5, while Williams leads the pack with a score of 1,432.5. The final day of the NESCAC Championship commences with the swimming trials at 10 a.m. and the diving trials at 2 p.m. before the finals at 5:30 p.m.
