INDIANAPOLIS – Senior
Fynlan Nadel notched two top-25 finishes as the Amherst College men's swimming and diving team competed on the third day of the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday at Indiana University Indianapolis.
Nadel finished 21st in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:48.46 in the trials. Sophomore
Jack Goepfrich was close behind, placing 23rd with a personal-best time of 1:48.53. The two Mammoths marked Amherst's return to the national stage in this event, becoming the first Amherst swimmers to compete in the 200 fly at nationals since 2017.
Nadel also raced in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing 24th in 55.33 seconds in the final collegiate swim for the senior. Junior
Eric Albers finished 27th in the event with a time of 55.52 seconds.
The national championship meet concludes on Saturday (March 21) with trials beginning at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Mammoths qualified for the final day of competition include the first-year
Benjamin Robins in the 1650-yard freestyle, Goepfrich in the 100-yard freestyle, and Albers and first-year
Owen Vale in the 200-yard breaststroke.
