Robins swims to First Team All-America honors in 1650 free on final day of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – First-year Benjamin Robins earned First Team All-America honors in the 1650-yard freestyle as the Amherst College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition on the final day of the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday at Indiana University Indianapolis.

Robins swam the longest event of the meet in a season-best time of 15:33.37 to finish sixth in the nation, earning his first career All-America honor in his final swim of the season with Amherst's best finish in the event since 2012. First Team All-America honors are awarded to the top eight finishers in each event.

First-year Owen Vale concluded his meet with a 19th-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching in a personal-best time of 2:01.54. Junior Eric Albers finished 22nd in the event, clocking in at 2:02.94.

Sophomore Jack Goepfrich placed 23rd in the 200-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 44.67 seconds.

The Mammoths finished the meet with 39 points in the team standings and placed 22nd in the nation, the most points and highest finish for Amherst since 2019, with three Mammoths coming home with First Team All-America honors. Denison finished atop the team standings for back-to-back championships with 437 points.
