Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. – Senior Riley Streit struck out six in five innings on the mound, but the No. 19/14 Amherst College baseball were unable to overcome a four run fifth inning by the Gulls, and fell to Salve Regina, 11-6 in non-conference action at Reynolds Field Saturday afternoon.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Harry Roberson '18 singled to right field to score Yanni Thanopoulos '17 in the top of the first to give Amherst an early 1-0 lead, but Salve Regina would respond in the third, scoring three runs before a two run fourth by the Purple & White tied the game at 3-3.
- Down 7-3 after a four run fifth inning by the Gulls, Amherst was unable to regain a lead, scoring once in the sixth and twice in the eighth en route to Salve Regina clinching the 11-6 win.
- Thanopoulos and Ariel Kenney '18 each finished 2-for-4 in the batters box, with Thanopoulos notching a run and Kenney crossing the plate twice. Six different Purple & White players recorded an RBI in the outing.
- Zack Smith went 3-for-5 with two runs to lead the Gulls offense, while Ryan Kelly and Colton Eremain registered two RBI's apiece.
- Streit (2-2) took the loss for Amherst, tossing five innings and allowing six hits and seven runs while fanning six. Sam Schneider '18, Mike Dow '19, and John Vasiliu '19 each pitched an inning in relief for the Purple & White, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out four.
- Tabbed with the start, Brett Wilkes (1-0) pitched six innings for the Gulls, giving up five hits and four runs while striking out two. Kyle Lefelar earned the save, tossing the final three innings and allowing four hits and two runs.

- Both sides notched nine hits apiece.
- The Purple & White pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts and six walks, while the Gulls fanned five and walked three batters.
