Box Score AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 19/14 Amherst College baseball team tallied two runs in the third inning and an insurance run in the sixth to defeat Eastern Connecticut State University, 3-1 in Thursday afternoon's non-conference matchup at Memorial Field.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Falling behind 1-0 after the second, Amherst rallied back to score three unanswered runs and claim the 3-1 win.
- ECSU was first to cross the plate, with D.J. Scavone grounding out to second base to score Alex Zachary in the top of the second.
- The Purple & White responded an inning later as Harry Roberson '18 and Ariel Kenney '18 tallied RBI's in back-to-back at bats to give Amherst a 2-1 lead.
- Amherst would add an insurance run in the sixth, with Sam Ellinwood '18 sending a singled up the middle with runners on first and second and two outs to score Conner Gunn '16.
- Three different Warriors went 2-for-4 in the matchup, while Scavone acted as the only ECSU player to notch an RBI.
- Eight different Purple & White players recorded a hit, with Dave Cunningham '16 going 2-for-3 to lead the Amherst offense. Ellinwood finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run.
- John Parker (2-2) took the loss for ECSU, allowing sevens hits and two runs in four innings on the mound. Ron Buchetto pitched two innings, allowing two hits and a run while fanning three, while Patrick O'Neill and Nick Rascati tossed 1.1 and 0.2 innings, respectively.
- Tabbed with the start, junior Jackson Volle (5-0) tossed seven innings, allowing just one run and six hits while striking out four. George Long '17 and Mike Castiglie '17 pitched 0.2 and 0.1 innings, respectively, while Andrew Ferrero '19 earned the save, tossing an inning and allowing two hits and no runs.
