Box Score AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 3/2 Amherst College women's basketball team extended its home winning streak to 121 straight games and three Purple & White players scored in double figures in Friday evening's NESCAC tilt against Bates College at LeFrak Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Amherst shot 40% from the floor and 75% from the free throw line, and held Bates to just 29.6% shooting from the field.
- Meredith Doswell '17 led the Purple & White with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and six boards, followed by Jackie Nagle '18 with 11 points and team-best seven rebounds. Hannah Hackley '18 chipped in 10 points, while Cheyenne Pritchard '16 collected nine points in reserve.
- Haley Zwecker '16, Ali Doswell '17 and Jaimie Renner '17 finished with five rebounds each, while Ali Doswell led all players with four assists.
- The Bobcats were led by Nina Davenport who scored a game-high 15 points, followed by Allie Coppola who turned in a stellar double-double effort of 13 points and 16 rebounds. Bernadette Connors added nine points, while Chelsea Nelson contributed seven rebounds off the bench.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Amherst jumped out to an early, 9-2 lead as Meredith Doswell canned one her two three-pointers in the contest at the 6:26 mark.
- Back-to-back buckets by Davenport pulled Bates to within 9-6 with 3:33 to play in the opening period, but a Nagle three-point play, and 4-of-5 shooting from the free throw line helped the Purple & White stake an 18-9 lead after 10 minutes.
- After the Bobcats narrowed their deficit to six (24-18) midway through the second quarter, Pritchard swished a trey that set Amherst on a 15-0 run that featured triples by both Ali and Meredith Doswell to set the score at 39-18 with less than one minute to play in the half.
- Emily Freedland broke Bates' 4:59 scoreless span when she made the second of two foul shots, and Madeline Foote then put in a deep three-pointer as time expired to set the halftime score at 39-22 in favor of the Purple & White.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- In the third quarter, Amherst used a five point effort from Hackley, and four points each from Meredith Doswell and Nagle to give the hosts their largest lead of the game – 22 points – when Meredith Doswell powered a bucket in the paint to set the score at 51-29.
- The fourth quarter saw both teams score nine points as the Purple & White was able to close out the 63-44 victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Amherst has now won 121 straight games at LeFrak Gymnasium since edging Colby, 65-64 on Jan. 31, 2009. The Purple & White are now eight home wins shy of tying the NCAA record (for all divisions) of 129 home victories set by the University of Kentucky's men's basketball team between 1943 and 1955.
- Ali Doswell has now scored 956 career points and is 44 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point mark.
