AMHERST, MA. – Four members of the Amherst College women's basketball team were accorded College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors when they were announced last week: senior guards Annie McCarthy (Medfield, Mass.) and Anna Tranum (Bemus Point, N.Y.), junior forward Brielle Renwick (Norwalk, Conn.), and sophomore forward Elizabeth Cain (Holden, Mass.).

Formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA), the CSC divides the NCAA institutions into nine geographic districts, with Amherst being located in District 1. In order to earn Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have played in at least 90 percent of their team's contests -- or started in 65 percent of them – during the recently completed season and have maintained at least a 3.5 undergraduate cumulative GPA.

McCarthy, a psychology major, played and started in all 26 games, putting up 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Well-known across the conference for her shooting ability, she native shot .414 from the field and .306 from three while being tightly guarded all year. McCarthy earns her second All-District selection and was also named to the to the All-NESCAC Second Team after her best season as a Mammoth in 2025-26.

Tranum, a chemistry major, appeared in 23 games this season, starting 21. She averaged 7.8 points, 1.5 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game while also racking up 29 steals and leading the team in free throw percentage (.837). This is her second All-District Honor, the other being in 2024.

Renwick, an economics and philosophy double major, earns her first selection after playing in all 26 games with three starts in 2025-26. She averaged 4.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game as one of the Mammoths' primary defensive anchors in the paint. She also shot an impressive .489 from the field overall.

Cain, an undeclared major, played in all 26 games while starting 19 in her second season in Amherst. She was a big piece of the team's offense down low, averaging 7.7 points per game while putting in solid defensive work all season. Her best game of the year came against Williams in January, with her 20-point effort helping the team to a win.

The Mammoths finished their season with an 18-8 record, including a 6-4 mark in the NESCAC, earning the No. 3 seed in the NESCAC Tournament, and advancing to the semifinal for the second straight season.
