HADLEY, MA. – Two members of the Amherst College women's basketball team were accorded All-NESCAC honors when they were announced today. Senior guards
Laura Mendell (Westport, Mass.) and
Annie McCarthy (Medfield, Mass.) were selected to the 2025-26 All-NESCAC Second Team honors for their play over the last few months.
Mendell earned a Second Team honor with her Second Team selection this year. She finished the year having played in and started all 26 games while averaging 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest. She also came up big on the defensive side of the ball, putting up 1.6 steals a game and 15 total blocks. This is her second All-conference selection, with the other being a Second Team accolade in 2024-25.
McCarthy was named to the Second Team after her best season as a Mammoth in 2025-26. The senior played and started in all 26 games, putting up 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Well-known across the conference for her shooting ability, the Medfield native shot .414 from the field and .306 from three while being tightly guarded all year. She was also second on the team in free throw percentage, making them at a .783 clip. This is her first All-NESCAC selection.
The Mammoths finished their season with an 18-8 record, including a 6-4 mark in the NESCAC, earning the No. 3 seed in the NESCAC Tournament, and advancing to the semifinal for the second straight season.
