Jeffs Down No. 27 Skidmore, 7-2

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 1 Amherst College men's tennis team powered to 7-2 victory over No. 27 Skidmore College on Thursday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex in Claremont, Calif.

With the win, Amherst improves to 6-2 overall, while Skidmore moves to 6-3 on the season.

Amherst got off to a fast start, posting a 3-0 lead in the contest after doubles. The tandem of Aaron Revzin '16 and Michael Solimano '16 posted an 8-1 victory over Jonah Epstein and Kai Yeun Leung from the No. 1 court, while Jon Cypers '15 and Andrew Yaraghi '16 tabbed an 8-5 win on the No. 2 court against Skidmore's Kit Sanderson and Lucas Pickering. On court No. 3, Sean Rodriguez '15 and Russell Einbinder '16 secured the sweep with an 8-2 victory over Ted Berkowitz and Steven Koulouris.

From the singles position, the Thoroughbreds won from the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, but the Jeffs claimed courts 3, 4, 5 and 6 to seal the 7-2 win. Solimano dispatched Koulouris, 6-4, 6-1 from court No. 3; Revzin defeated Pickering, 4-6, 7-5, 12-10 in a thrilling three-set match on court No. 4; Andrew Arnaboldi '17 defeated Epstein, 6-3, 6-2, and Ben Fife '16 played Berkowitz to a three-set match, prevailing 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.

The Purple & White will split its squad on Friday as it takes on Azusa Pacific at 4:30 p.m. and Cerritos at 5 p.m.
