CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Amherst College men's tennis team started their 2025-2026 season on Friday at the MIT Invitational Tournament at the duPont Tennis Center in Cambridge. The Mammoths made the Round of 32 in the NCAA team tournament in the spring of the 2024-2025 season, and ended at #14 in the Divison III rankings. They finished with a 16-8 record, and are looking to improve this season. On Friday, The Mammoths started with 2 doubles matches: against Babson and Colby. The MIT Invitational will last all weekend, lasting until Sunday afternoon. Teams that are at the Invitational: Tufts, Bowdoin, Amherst, Babson, UC Santa Cruz, Wesleyan, Colby and hosts MIT.
Amherst's first matches back did not go as hoped for the Mammoths. They started out with 4 doubles matches against Babson, losing in all 4. Babson had a strong season this past spring, making it to the quarterfinals of the NCAA team tournament, and ending as the #11 team in the nation. In the 2nd round of matches, Amherst faced Colby College, winning on 3 out of 4 courts, ending the night on a good note.
